You are Love!

We are so used to thinking of love either as a sentimental feeling toward the object of our affections or as something we do, it's hard at first to understand the statement "You are love." But once we shift our understanding about love, we come to realize that love is not an action or a commodity, not even a feeling, but our Sacred Essence, our very Being.

Love cannot be measured; it is not a quantity but a quality. It can, however, be felt as a vibration in the feeling body, for every person's love feels different. When we feel love, what we are feeling is the unique quality of the person's essence - their love. It appears that love can be given or withheld, but what is really happening is that a person is either allowing or not allowing their true essence to shine forth. If a person does not know themselves as Love, they will have several layers of a false identity blocking the flow of their love in and out of their being.

Therefore, the most important work that we'll ever do, is releasing the blockages to Love's presence. Love is always there but we cannot access it, if we have blocked its flow. There is no one outside of ourselves that can give us love that we have not embraced within. Another person may reflect the love inside of us, though, and help us to remember who we really are as Love. Unfortunately, most people externalize their love so that if this other person leaves, they think that the love left with them.

The greatest gift a person can give to another is self-realization, which is the remembrance of Love as our Essence, as our Being. The most difficult expression of love is releasing the attachment to the person. Yet, in releasing attachment to the object of our love, we connect with the true nature of love which is freedom.

The second hardest is releasing judgement through forgiveness when it appears another has acted without love, or taken our love away. In forgiving we understand that love does not see anything but love. If a person is not extending their love which naturally radiates out from the center of their being, they have merely forgotten who they are. Now we have an opportunity to connect with the greatest experience of love - compassion - by extending our love to them so they may remember; so they may know themselves again as Love.

The third expression of love is releasing a compulsive urge to do something when there is nothing for you to do. How often do we think that we know what the loving thing to do is in any given situation when in truth we may be interfering with another's path and not honoring them. Glenda Green in her book Love Without End puts it this way: "Until we can walk in another man's shoes, what right have we to tell him what kind of shoes to wear?"

Remember always that love is Who You Really Are. You cannot change your true nature. You may forget about it, cover it up with smoke screens of false identities, social roles, insecurities, or whatever, but at your core your love remains unchanged. Your real identity remains unchanged. And even through the heavy veils of made-up identities and false self-concepts your love still can be felt - although not as strongly. You will always be recognized by the quality of your love.

Your love is unique. It is the your true beauty, your true magnificence. It is radiant with light. It is immortal, eternal. It seeks only to shine brightly like a sun in this world. It is your gift to the world. To remember Who You Really Are as Love is to offer yourself to the world in loving service. By connecting with the Love that you are you will find a power so great it can move mountains. All of Creation wants to bow down at its presence. You are honored for the Love that you are.
